Child Find

The Wright City Public Schools under Public Law 101-476 (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) serves disabled and/or developmentally delayed students age three through twenty-one years of age.

The Search-Find-Serve program is seeking to identify all area children with disabilities and/or developmental delays, three through twenty-one years of age, who are not enrolled in public schools or attending another public or private school, Head Start, state institution or other child care facility.

Child identification, location and evaluation for the birth through two years of age is coordinated with the Sooner Start Early Intervention Program administered by the State Department of Education.  Local schools may be contacted for more information on this agency.

Public Law 101-476 recognizes the following qualifying conditions: autism, deaf-blindness, hearing impairment, intellectual disabilities, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairments, other health impairments, emotional disturbance, specific leaning disability, speech language impairment, traumatic brain injury, visual impairment or developmental delays.

Anyone having a child or knowing of a child who might be in need of services is asked to notify the local school district.  The local superintendent may be contacted at 580-981-2824, High School principal at 580-981-2558, or Elementary principal at 580-981-2248.
