LumberJax Baseball Make History
The Wright city LumberJax Baseball Team made history as the first JAX baseball to ever make a
State Championship Game. The LumberJax had a great season finishing Ranked #4 with a 25 - 6 record.
Game 1: WC 12 Dale 2 (Run Rule)
Semi Finals: WC 1 Oktaha 0 (8 innings)
Finals: Silo 6 WC 0
The OSSAA pushed the Championship Game to Friday night because of the high possibility of rain on Saturday.
In the semi final game Oktaha loaded the bases with lead off Conner Bastarche on third base and CJ Briley batting.
CJ fouled of the first two pitches. Oktaha moved its infield onto the grass to make any ground ball hit the opportunity to make a play at the plate.
CJ hit a hard chopper over short stop's head which forced him to run back to get it. That proved to be the extra second needed to allow Conner
to safely slide in at home for the win. The first run scored was the winning run.
With the extra inning that didn't allow much time between the semi final and championship game.
In the championship game Silo's pitcher proved to be too much for the JAX. While Silo managed to finds some hits the JAX struggled to get runners on base.
None the less being the first baseball team to ever make a state championship game was a great accomplishment.
Congratulations to Coach Kyle Butler and the LumberJax for Making History.
