Oklahoma Makes Major Changes In Testing
OKLAHOMA MAKES MAJOR CHANGES IN TESTING AND THE RESULTS ARE IN
Results for the Spring 2017 are here. Grades 3,4,5,a nd 6 results were given to students on Wednesday (12/6/17) and
Grades 7,8,10, and US History scores were mailed.
You may see a drop in your child's scores. A Quote from Oklahoma State Department of Education summarizes the situation.
"We will see a significant drop in the number of students reported as Proficient or Advanced. The decrease does not mean students
are less skilled than last year or that a school is less effective."
There are three main reasons many students have lower scores:
1. In 2016 Oklahoma adopted more complex standards
2. The higher standards resulted in more complex testing
3. The complex testing resulted in higer-level performance scoring
The ultimate goal of the State of Oklahoma and its schools is to give students a competitive edge.
